E. Lefaucheux et Cie was founded in France in 1855 by Eugène Lefaucheux. The Paris establishment and the "Maison E. Lefaucheux" name were sold to Chevalier & Dru on November 15, 1881, and factory operations ceased around 1887; there is no modern successor brand. Its defining legacy is pioneering the pinfire metallic cartridge and producing service-adopted pinfire revolvers, first taken into French Navy use in 1858.
