Valmet Oy was a firearms manufacturer from Finland, founded in 1951 by the Finnish state. In 1986 its firearms unit merged with Sako to form Sako‑Valmet, and from early 1987 operations were consolidated; Valmet‑branded firearms ended and subsequent products continued under the Sako name. Its lasting legacy centers on Finnish AK‑pattern rifles derived from the Rk 62 design.
