Within rifles, the Imperial Japanese Army Tokyo Artillery Arsenal (Koishikawa Arsenal) of Japan spearheaded development and manufacture of the Arisaka-pattern service line, building on the Murata and bringing the Type 30 into service, with Tokyo production remaining central until operations shifted to Kokura in 1935.
