Coonan Arms, Inc. of the United States made its mark in pistols by debuting in 1983 a 1911-pattern semi-automatic built around the .357 Magnum, a niche it continued through its original run and a 2009–2019 revival. These pistols are engineered to reliably feed rimmed .357 Magnum cartridges via redesigned single-stack magazines and, on later iterations, a linkless cam system, pairing stainless-steel 1911 ergonomics with magnum-revolver ballistics; full-size guns can also be set up to run .38 Special with a spring change.
